Digital Peace and National Security: Building Responsible Voices for a United Nigeria
The Nigerian Institute of Social Media Analysts (NISMA) has unveiled the National Digital Peace Ambassadors (NDPA) initiative to promote responsible conduct online and foster national unity ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the press conference in Abuja, Ms Erikan Obong, National Secretary of NDPA, noted that Nigeria's battle for peace and unity is increasingly being fought in the digital space, with approximately 109 million internet users and 47.8 million social media user identities recorded in Nigeria.
The initiative aims to challenge misinformation, disinformation, incitement and other harmful narratives through peaceful, lawful and fact-based engagement. NDPA is described as a non-political, non-religious and non-ethnic movement encouraging Nigerians to use their digital platforms responsibly.
